“It is six months after surgery now. What a wonderful team Facialteam is! They made me feel very comfortable and in very capable hands, all the way from the very first consultation to follow-up meetings months afterward.I started to live full-time as a woman immediately after my surgery. Yes, there were bruises and some swelling, but they went away after three to four months. And there is make-up out there to cover the bruises, I learnt, so it was not a huge problem to me.

So, what has the FFS meant to me? My purpose with doing a FFS was to become more “passable” when I walk down a street. I was nervous because I did not know what I would find, I felt alone in this process that is a radical transformation in how we present ourselves to the world. But I felt calm because the contacts made previously offered me comfort and a great organization demonstrated by Dr Daniel and Ana González.

I must say that I never felt alone in those 11 days I spent in Marbella. I was facilitated a phone with all the contacts of the team … I had pre and post operative, almost every day and the soothing voice of Ana whenever I needed something. But eventually I have learned that there is another – more important – aspect as well, and that is that the FFS has made it easier for my friends to accept me in my new role as a woman. And not only accept, but also receive me heartbreakingly welcoming. And since friends are the most important you have in life that has become the most gratifying result of the FFS to me.

In conclusion – I can strongly recommend having a FFS done by Facialteam, especially if you want to become more confidentas a woman and successful with your transition. But have realistic expectations when it comes to the bruising and swelling – some of it will sit there for a number of months.

Malin’s Story

Several years ago, Malin approached Facialteam to discuss the possibilities for facial feminization surgery with our team of surgeons. Malin is a 62 year old patient who traveled from Sweden to have a consultation with our surgeons to evaluate her facial features and come up with the right selection of facial feminization procedures, completely personalized for Malin. Based on her goals and the recommendations from our surgical team we came up with the following treatment plan:

As Malin considered the area around her eyes had masculine traits and expressed her interest in a brow bone reduction, part of the process of feminizing the forehead region. Forehead feminization procedures at Facialteam aim to achieve a significant and specific change in the expression around the eyes, the ultimate goal of our FOREContour® method is to approximate the original contours and position of the facial bone and eyebrows, before hormones caused changes in puberty.

Feminization of the jaw was recommended to modify the size and shape of the mandibular body to have a more feminine appearance. The stereotypical female jaw exhibits a series of characteristics that commonly influence gender recognition, especially when combined with other social constructs associated with femininity, hence, this is a procedure that is often recommended for patients.

With chin feminization the height, width and projection of the chin can be harmonized, all of them give the face a more typically feminine appearance.

To emphasize the cheeks and make Malin’s eyes appear larger, a feminizing rhinoplasty was recommended. As the central feature of the face, a more feminine nose often is key for the global result of facial feminization surgery. Nose feminization is often combined with a forehead reconstruction to create a smooth transition from the brow bone to the nose.

Just like the majority of trans women who have been through puberty, Malin considered feminizing the area of the neck by reducing the size of Adam’s Apple. Our method TContour® allows us to achieve natural and safe results in trachea shaves, with a less visible Adam’s Apple as a result.

Shortly after her surgery, Malin sent us a written testimonial to express how she experienced her journey with Facialteam.

We love to hear from our patients and try to share all these lovely words with our audience as it can greatly help other patients that are considering facial feminization surgery as well.
