Complementary Facial Soft Tissues Surgeries
Step into the domain of advanced medical procedures with a comprehensive exploration of facial soft tissues surgery in our latest Facialteam Research & Education Youtube video.
Complementary Facial Soft Tissues Surgery is any procedure that refreshes your facial external appearance during or after feminization surgery.
These procedures target the soft tissues of the face rather than the bone structure. They harmonize a feminized face so the cranial structure and soft tissues are in desired proportions, breathing new life into facial features, addressing signs of sagginess, aging, fatigue, or stress.
Facialteam has been trusted by over 304 facial soft tissues surgery patients since the year 2008. We are proud to report extraordinary satisfaction rates, which inspire confidence in what patients describe as “high quality, life-changing results.”
Our goal is to help you attain the natural and feminine look you desire by offering the following 3 procedures:
They can be both combined during the FFS phase or in a second phase once full structural feminization is achieved after FFS, being advisable to wait from 6 months to 1 year to perform them.
To achieve this, we study your face shape and characteristics. We consider your skin type, age, ethnicity, aesthetic preferences, and the outcomes you want before recommending any procedure. Our philosophy is to suggest a plan to maximize your results while highlighting your natural beauty.
You can meet us for a free consultation to discuss your goals. We specialize in creating natural, feminine results with FFS, which many patients report reduces gender dysphoria.
Blepharoplasty
Upper blepharoplasty surgery seeks the cosmetic improvement of the upper eyelid. This surgical technique allows us to remove excess skin from the upper eyelids, achieving a clearer look, to give us an overall energetic and youthful appearance. Sometimes, fat redistribution/addition/excision may be necessary to create the ideal look for this region
In addition to this, when the excess skin in the eyelids is significant, it can cause visual fatigue and a feeling of heaviness and with this facial surgery, an immediate improvement is also achieved in this aspect in the form of a reduced feeling of visual fatigue.
- Surgery Duration: 1 hour aprox.
- Anesthesia: Blepharoplasty can be performed under either general or local anesthesia, depending on the patient’s preference and the surgeon’s recommendation..
- Stay in Hospital: Outpatient procedure, allowing patients to return home on the same day of the procedure.
- Stay in Spain: Plan for 1 week to ensure a smooth recovery.
- Recovery: Expect to take 1 week off work. A temporary bandage will be worn for 24-48 hours, and we provide nurturing care with epithelializing ointment and artificial tear treatment in the initial days following surgery. This aids in temporary post-surgical adjustments and ensures that your healing process is as comfortable and swift as possible.
Am I a good candidate for Blepharoplasty?
The most frequent candidates for eyelid surgery or upper blepharoplasty are usually those who, because of their individual features, have an apparent excess of skin in the area.
It is important to detect those patients who have drooping or low eyebrows, since in these cases blepharoplasty alone does not sufficiently clear the eyelid and it may be necessary to add an eyebrow lift to achieve a noticeable result on the look. Blepharoplasty is a highly recommended procedure to be combined with our FOREContour® procedure:
As with any facial soft tissue surgery intervention, for an eyelid surgery or blepharoplasty it is important to have reasonable expectations. That is, this surgery by itself will improve our appearance and may make us feel better about ourselves, but it cannot achieve drastic changes in appearance and its effect is limited to the upper eyelid; unless it is combined with a forehead feminization surgery by means of FOREContour®. If forehead bone work is not necessary but the brows need a lift, an endoscopic brow lift may be combined with the blepharoplasty, to refresh and rejuvenate the upper third of the face.
Platysmaplasty
Platysmaplasty is a surgical procedure aimed at improving and rejuvenating the neck’s appearance, often performed in conjunction with JAWContour. While typically done in individuals aged 45 or older, eligibility is determined by physical rather than chronological age, with patients of various ages considered if deemed suitable candidates and in good health.
Facial aging primarily results from the loss of muscle tone and gradual descent of facial fat compartments, rather than solely skin changes. Platysmaplasty involves a small incision under the chin to access deep tissues, removing excess fat and tightening the platysma musculature, along with addressing other sagging structures like the submaxillary gland. Additional incisions behind the mandibular angles may refine the mandibular contour. Complementary techniques like HIFU or high-intensity Radio Frequency can enhance outcomes.
In patients undergoing Trachea shave, it’s worth noting that the platysmaplasty and trachea shave can be efficiently performed through the same incision. This optimization streamlines the intervention, especially if the patient requires both procedures.
During the procedure, incisions are strategically made to access the platysma, allowing the surgeon to tighten and reshape the muscle. This tightening not only eliminates visible bands but also contributes to a smoother and more sculpted neck appearance. During the approach, if there is an excessive amount of internal fat, non reachable with liposuctioning, a direct elimination can be included in the procedure.
- Duration: Ranges from 1 to 2 hours, depending on the extent of correction needed.
- Anesthesia: Platysmaplasty can be performed under either general or local anesthesia, depending on the patient’s preference and the surgeon’s recommendation.
- Stay in Hospital: Outpatient procedure, allowing patients to return home on the same day of the procedure.
- Stay in Spain: Plan for 1 week to ensure a smooth recovery.
- Recovery Timeline: Patients can expect a recovery period of approximately 1 to 2 weeks after platysmaplasty. During this time, mild swelling and bruising may occur, gradually subsiding to reveal the final results. Postoperative care may involve the use of supportive garments to optimize the healing process.
Am I a Good Candidate for Platysmaplasty?
Ideal candidates for platysmaplasty are individuals experiencing sagging or visible bands in the neck area due to aging. Additionally, those seeking a more complete facial harmony and defined jawline may choose to combine platysmaplasty with other procedures such as jaw feminization surgery with JAWContour® and/or tracheal shave with TContour®:
As with any surgical procedure, it is crucial to consult with a qualified and experienced plastic surgeon to determine the most suitable treatment plan based on individual goals and anatomy. Platysmaplasty can be a transformative step in achieving a harmonious and revitalized facial profile.
Deep Plane Facelift
Deep Plane Facelift is a sophisticated facial soft tissue surgical procedure designed to address signs of aging in the lower two-thirds of the face and neck. This surgery is the evolution of the facelift and it has completely revolutionized the concept of comprehensive facial rejuvenation.
Ana
This comprehensive facial lifting technique aims to tighten sagging skin, redefine facial contours, and diminish the appearance of wrinkles and folds, ultimately providing a more youthful and rejuvenated facial aesthetic.
Deep Plane Facelift surgery involves the strategic repositioning and tightening of facial tissues, including the underlying muscles and skin.
Incisions are carefully placed to minimize visibility, and excess skin is trimmed, restoring a firmer and smoother facial appearance. This procedure is tailored to each individual’s unique anatomy and aesthetic goals.
We are currently offering two types of facial lifting:
- Mini Face-Lift (Weekend Lift)
- Full face & Neck lift
Both, include the deep plane work, which allow natural results (avoid the wind tunnel faces or overdone look), long lasting and minimal skin dissection/resection. However, the second one is a complete face and neck lift (as its name indicates), performed under the deep plane or SMAS/platisma technique. The only part of the full face lift that is not included is the upper third, which would require a frontal (eyebrow) lift.
- Duration: Typically ranges from 2 to 5 hours, depending on the extent of correction needed and whether additional complementary procedures are performed concurrently.
- Anesthesia: Facelift surgery is commonly performed under general anesthesia to ensure the patient’s comfort and a pain-free experience during the procedure.
- Stay in Hospital: Outpatient procedure, allowing patients to return home on the same day of the procedure. However, we always recommend 1 night at the hospital.
- Stay in Spain: Plan for 2 weeks to ensure complete and compassionate recovery.
- Recovery Timeline: Patients can expect a recovery period of approximately 2 to 3 weeks after a facelift. Swelling and bruising are common initially but gradually subside, revealing the final, more youthful results. Postoperative care may involve the use of supportive garments and diligent sun protection to optimize the healing process.
Am I a good candidate for Deep Plane Facelift?
Ideal candidates for facelift surgery are individuals experiencing noticeable sagging, deep creases, and loss of facial volume due to aging. It is essential to have realistic expectations and communicate openly with our experts surgeons to ensure the best possible outcomes.
Facelift surgery can be combined with other facial procedures for a holistic approach to facial rejuvenation, providing natural and long-lasting results. Aging is not the only reason. It can be also done in younger patients, because of jowling, lack of readaptation after jaw surgery, etc.
Also, Deep Plane Facelift is recommended to those patients who after jaw contouring surgery have not readapted the soft tissues adequately and need a tightening to show their jawline as they had always wished.
As with any facial soft tissue surgical procedure, seeking the expertise of a board-certified surgeon is crucial to tailor the treatment plan to individual needs and achieve optimal aesthetic outcomes. Facelift surgery remains a transformative option for those seeking a comprehensive solution to the effects of aging on the face and neck.
