Training & Education

Facialteam Training & Education

The meaning behind our scientific work comes full circle at our training and educational events as we put all theory and conclusions under analysis.

These continuing education opportunities are a learning experience for both students and faculty. We are proud to promote gender-affirming surgery education that also encourages the standardization of best practices which are indispensable in the field.

It is also our honor to provide venues where advocacy for better trans healthcare manifests, in the hands of medical providers who opt for our professional development offerings, now in two different formats: workshops, and the FFS Training Program.

Facialteam’s Training & Education events will qualify for specific continuing education certifications, such as GEI credits accredited by The World Professional Association for Transgender Health (WPATH).

Gender Affirming Surgery Workshop

Our 2nd annual workshop, Current Concepts in Gender Affirming Surgery for Women in Transition, took place online in March 2021.

The two-day immersive course was designed to stimulate discussion about the novel techniques and methods being presented by a host of internationally recognized speakers. The workshop was an overview of three areas where gender dysphoria may be involved:

  • Gender-Affirming Healthcare Services;
  • Genital Gender-Affirming Surgery;
  • Facial Gender-Affirming Surgery.

If you missed the workshop this year, you may request access to the recording.

FFS Training Program

Three editions of our FFS Training Program, in 2018, 2019, and 2022, offered the first professional foundational training of its type in all areas of the FFS discipline.

The next edition of the FFS Training Program is scheduled for October 2024.

This intensive 5-day program provides maxillofacial, plastic or ENT surgeons a higher degree of specialization in the field of facial gender surgery. Adapted for providers whose objective is to develop gender units within their institutions, this comprehensive program includes:

  • multidisciplinary theoretical sessions on patient care management, case studies and panel discussions;
  • hours of surgery observership in our operating theaters;
  • 1-day cadaver lab of guided practice in surgical techniques;
  • FFS Training Program course booklet, materials and diploma.

For your convenience, we include accommodation and transport for all participants.

Facialteam Research & Education

To ensure the smooth operation of the course and proper training, the program is limited to a maximum of 6 participants.

Speaclists in Oral and Maxillofacial surgery, Reconstructive and Plastic Surgery, and ENT surgeons.

The program runs for 5 consecutive days.
