Can I split my FFS into stages to spread the cost?

It’s worth understanding that staging usually costs more, not less.

Splitting your plan across two surgeries means paying twice for the things that aren’t the surgery itself: anesthesia, facility fees, pre-operative studies, flights, accommodation, and two separate recovery periods away from work. Those costs don’t halve when the surgery does. You also take on a second anesthesia and a second recovery.

There are legitimate clinical reasons to stage, and sometimes it’s the right plan. But it should be a surgical decision made with your surgeon, not a budgeting strategy that typically works against you.
