Gender affirming transition: It’s for me

The importance of a gender affirming transition and the transhealth services that help it happen

Facialteam is beginning a new stage in our communication. One focussed on the aspects of gender affirming transition which reaches out to the greater medical and scientific community. We want the world to learn more about the day-to-day work of our team, what revolutionary R&D projects are in store and how we want to give more voice and visibility to the healthcare needs of the trans community as well as the field of facial gender surgery.

We welcome you to join us in this transformation– contributing to the dialogue, analysis, reflection and, above all, humanity around the discussion of facial gender-affirming surgery.

Why is a gender affirming transition inevitable?

Who would you turn your life around for? What is the reason behind a gender affirming transition? It’s typical to reflect on why we do the things we do, instead of for whom.

For whom would you make an important decision? For whom would you forge bravely ahead? For whom is your smile most important?

Facialteam patients have taught us so much about why and for whom. However, we would love to hear your thoughts.

It’s for me. My gender affirming transition is for me.

For my strength, inner peace, and for my essence. For my present and future. It’s for me.

This is a fundamental reason behind why people making one of the most important decisions of their lives decide to transform with the help of surgery in their gender affirming transition.

We dedicate the ‘It’s for me’ message to all the women who will accompany us in the coming months, especially those whose voices are not heard. Becoming the main character in the story of your life, you have also become the transformative protagonist of our story. It is a privilege everyday to form part of your inspiring journey.

How we can make your gender affirming transition even more positive

Something is transforming in Facialteam, something you will love ?. We want to share our vision of the future with you. We want you to know more about our work and, above all, we want to learn more from you too.

For you, a gender affirming transition is one of the most important decisions of your life. We are familiar with the fears, doubts and excitement that surround this decision and support you throughout the process, but we want to do more. We want to transform for you, in the ways that matter most. Part of this transformation has to do with our communication on and off-line, by continuing to grow our open, transparent dialogue with you, our patients.

How to encourage your friend embarking on a gender affirming transition

Facialteam doesn’t want to wait for Valentines Day to ‘share the love,’ when it’s those daily gestures of gratefulness which motivate us and the kindness-infused care that helps our patients and their companions feel understood. A person who has taken on the trials and tribulations of a gender affirming transition need allies. Lot’s of them.  Here are three of the easiest things you can do to be a better ally.

  1. Show tenderness to a person in any kind of transition as well as their allies that you care about. Even just a smile will do!
  2. Act on what you are thinking and say ‘I appreciate you’ to your trans, nonbinary or intersex friend.
  3. Love yourself. The best way to care for others is to first learn to pamper yourself (body and soul) and understand that trans, non-binary and intersex people, well, are people with the same needs as you.

The 5 senses: the frame for our messages about the importance of a gender affirming transition

An experience that stimulates all 5 senses is the equal of feeling at maximum capacity. #Facialteam is taking on the challenge to engage your senses in everything we do and say, every day. In line with the concept ‘It’s for me,’ we’ve planned a sensorial journey through the history shared with our patients. We begin with the sense of sight, to expand on how we view facial surgery in the gender affirming transition.

Stay tuned to our social media to experience the story in every sense of the word. Be sure to comment there, we are listening…Who knows, perhaps a joint vision for the future may then emerge.

Hello world! My name's Lilia Koss! With a background in humanities and diverse professional experiences, I've accumulated 11 years now working in the field of trans healthcare. Involved from the ground up when the business idea was just a seed within a clinic until it gradually transformed into the main focus of our activity. Like any startup, I have had hands in many pots: from workflows, customer journeys, social media, public relations, customer service, sales and coordination, content, web... Now life is more defined. Lately, I focus my energies on Public Relations, Social Media and copywriting of quality for our target during my day-to-day. Plus, the organization of annual educational orientation events around the world aimed at raising visibility of gender-affirming healthcare. Life is pretty complete.
