Since 2008, Facial Team surgeons have employed hilotherapy (or cryotherapy) in the aftercare of facial feminisation patients. This is the application of a controlled cooling mask to reduce postoperative inflammation that can cause complications and therefore diminish the pain associated with swelling (oedema).
