The eyebrows may give a younger and more feminine appearance, depending on their position and shape. In facial feminization surgery, the repositioning of the eyebrows is normally combined with forehead recontouring and a hairline correction, for which the same incision is used.
Gender of the eyebrow
Masculine looking eyebrows, stereotypically, are straighter, wider and are located over or just under the supraorbital ridge. The eyebrows on a female, in general and sometimes as a result of plucking, appear to be higher with a more arched shape.
For more detailled information about the gender of eyebrows and plucking tips, we suggest a visit to http://www.virtualffs.co.uk/Eyebrows.html. On this site, the feminization specialist, Alexandra, says that in general, “the top edge of the eyebrow is in about the same position for both men and women.”
Feminization of the eyebrow
The frontal lifting and repositioning of the eyebrow are classic procedures in FFS with the goal to achieve a younger appearance in the region above the eyes. Done carefully and with subtlety, a more vivid and fresh look can be obtained. As always, an evaluation would determine if this procedure is recommended in your case, as each person´s face is unique.
Procedure
The technique includes a repositioning of the forehead skin, and consequently, of the eyebrows. It has no effect on the underlying bone, so the change is not as evident as when a frontal remodeling (forehead recontouring) is simultaneously performed.
As we explained before, in FFS, the browlift is a procedure that almost always is combined with remodelling of the forehead and hairline correction. The arch and the height of the eyebrows are related to the shape of the frontal orbital bone underneath. For this reason, it is important to correct the position and the shape of the eyebrows after a remodeling of the brow bone.
